Get 'orf my land!

Get 'orf my land!

There’s a war raging in the field at the moment… In the last couple of days we’ve seen lambs and cows vying for ownership.

Who do you think will win out?

If you can send us a photo of either lambs, or cows in the field (right click the camera image and choose “Save image as…” or your browser equivalent), we’ll send you a freebie!

Valentine's Day puts a 'spring' in the Lambs' steps

February 19, 2010 10:45

Merryn and Ken, the herd’s most loved up lamby couple, have been feeling under the weather lately with all the snow, hail and heavy rain! However, it hasn’t quite managed to erase the shine left over from Valentine’s day – the whole herd are looking forward to spring and expecting a little Merryn or a little Ken to come along some time soon! Hopefully, the weather will be nice and dry so the little ones can enjoy their playground – THE FIELD!

Happy Moo Year from Lamb Cam!

Happy Moo Year from Lamb Cam!

OK, so there aren’t any cows in the field at the moment – it’s all sheep, but it was the best pun we could think of!

Anyway, in keeping with the festive season’s spirit, the field is a beautiful blanket of snow. Just in case you’re reading this after the event, we’ve included a pic for you to reminisce over.

Bleaters in the mist

December 10, 2009 14:08

It’s been a really misty day here in the field. The sheep have been bumping into each other as they’re all so well camouflaged against the white veil that has been lingering.

It has lifted a little now, so you can probably start to make out the vague shape of trees in the hedgerows… doesn’t it look spooky?

Yet another lamb cliché!

December 09, 2009 16:17

The sheep are feeling like someone’s pulled the wool over their eyes today (boom boom!). They woke up this morning in completely new surroundings… don’t worry though, the Lamb Cam camera is still thoroughly trained on their every movement.

Wimblewool

Roger Fleecier and Woolly Murray are battling it out – but who will win? We know who the Drinkmaster favourite is

“Come on Woolly!!”

If you aren’t signed up to Lamb Cam Alerts, you may have missed out on the railway worker recently waving a chequered flag on the railway line and being honked at by passing trains. We weren’t sure what the flag was for and posed the question in an alert message. Thankfully, BTP Officer Amanda, emailed us with the answer:

“The flag is to let the workers up the line know a train is coming, it also let’s the driver know there are workers up the line. The chap on his own is the look-out who must warn the others. The driver must honk his horn to acknowledge the look-out and the look-out must wave acknowledgement back. It’s called track safety. All railway workers from platform staff to the British Transport Police must do regular track saftey courses.”

-Thanks Amanda!

Lamb Scram!

June 24, 2009 14:32

You can look as hard as you like at the field today but you won’t see a sheep in it. They are all, repeat, ALL at the beach. Even Big Bertha who is usually pretty coy about putting her swimming costume on. It’s just too darn hot to have a woolly coat on; the shears came out last night so they are all out in the sun today with slinky new summer hairdos. They’ve been at the luminous zinc cream too, so tonight they’ll play puppet theatres with their glow in the dark stripes. That’s when they’ll find out which one of them ate the tube…

Sunshine and chequered flags

May 29, 2009 10:42

Well the lambs have got their way – the rain has gone away. In it’s place we have blazing blue skies… and they’re set to stay for the weekend. Hooray!

It's raining, it's pouring!

May 27, 2009 13:09

Rain rain go away, come back another day.

Sniff.

Well it’s lashing it down and the lambs are all huddled around the hedges wearing oilskins and big wellies. Gemima Puddle-Lamb has checked out the weather forecast on her ewe-phone and she’s promised it will be sunny for the rest of the week. The lambs want to believe her, but it’s not so easy to believe anything when rain is dripping past your nose and your ears are flattened under a big yellow hat. Not much springing going on today.

Ranulph the Ram Rises Above the Rest

May 21, 2009 11:52

Well today is the day that all the lambs and bullocks join together to applaud Ranulph. He’s one of the eldest rams on the farm, and he’s had his fair share of challenges in the past few years. Today was a red letter day for him though as he climbed to the top of the hill. Quite an achievement for a ram that has also been to the windswept hedge at the very top of the field and the muddy place at the bottom of the field. Remember please that the Lamb Cam field is a very big place indeed. Sometimes it feels quite small, but it’s huge and no other sheep has been to all three places.

Hats off please to Ranulph the Ram.
